Imaging, Graphics and Visualization (11775)

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at ASU seek applicants for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position in imaging, graphics and visualization. Areas of interest include scientific and information visualization, computer graphics and virtual reality, 3D modeling and visual analytics. The originality and potential impact of each candidate’s work are higher priorities than the specific area of research.

The imaging, graphics and visualization group in the School of Computing, Informatics, and Decision Systems Engineering, one of the six Fulton Schools, includes faculty working on a variety of topics including multimedia, visualization, motion capture and 3D imaging. Extensive collaborations exist across the university, including the Global Security Initiative, Biodesign Institute, Global Institute of Sustainability, Institute for Humanities Research, School of Nutrition and Health Promotion, School of Criminology & Criminal Justice, School of Arts, Media & Engineering, Decision Theater Network and the Mayo Clinic. The current opening is intended to broaden this expertise and expand collaborations.

Faculty members are expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, adopt innovative educational practices in graduate and undergraduate education, develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses, advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students and undertake service activities. Appointments will be at the assistant, associate or full professor rank, commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments, starting August 2017. 

Required qualifications:

  • A doctorate in computer science, software engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated evidence of excellence in research and teaching as appropriate to the candidate’s rank

Desired qualifications:

  • A record of acquiring external funding and publication in top-tier journals/conferences with real-world impact
  • A commitment to a trans-disciplinary approach to research and teaching
